Stiftung Warentest tested bicycle trailers for children. We secured first place in the safety category – and we're very proud of that.

With a new test procedure, however, Stiftung Warentest found PFAS in our products. This substance group is hard to break down in the environment, which is why they are also called "forever chemicals". For children there is, according to Stiftung Warentest and the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, no danger whatsoever.

"The substances we detected are components of fluorocarbon resins. These polymers are applied for example to seat covers to make them dirt- and water-repellent. As part of this coating, the PFAS are so bound that they are not a health concern."

What this means for us:

Environmental protection is non-negotiable for us. It's important to us that our products are not just safe but also environmentally friendly.

We will now also integrate the new test procedure into our quality assurance and adjust the recipes accordingly.

Customers who feel uncomfortable with the test results for environmental protection reasons, we offer at the end of using the Kidgoo 2 Fidlock Edition a free recycling of their products. To do this, they just need to package and send the affected products directly to us.

Safety and durability

The Qeridoo Kidgoo 2 Fidlock Edition deservedly took 1st place among the double-seaters and achieved excellent results in the most important categories. Particularly in terms of safety, the bicycle trailer impressed with very good ratings and lives up to the motto "Safely on the road".

Riding and pushing

Overall grade: Good (1.8)

The Qeridoo Kidgoo 2 Fidlock Edition shows outstanding handling and reliable braking characteristics. Particularly worth highlighting is the use as a buggy, which was rated very good. Overall, the trailer offers the best riding experience among the tested double-seaters.

Handling

Overall grade: Good (2.0)

The handling of the Qeridoo Kidgoo 2 Fidlock Edition is user-friendly and simple. The user manual and labeling are easy to understand. Assembly as well as coupling/uncoupling and folding are easy to carry out. Placing and strapping in the children, as well as loading luggage and cargo, are well solved. Particularly positive stand out the conversion and use as a buggy, both of which received very good ratings.

Pollutants

Overall grade: Insufficient (4.6)

Despite the good ratings in the other categories, PFAS were also detected in the Qeridoo Kidgoo 2 Fidlock Edition. This leads to a downgrade and an insufficient overall judgment in this category. However, it should be highlighted that the found PFAS, according to Stiftung Warentest, are not harmful to health.

Child-friendly design

Overall grade: Good (2.4)

The Qeridoo Kidgoo 2 Fidlock Edition offers a child-friendly design with high seating comfort, effective ventilation as well as reliable rain protection and sun protection. These aspects contribute to a pleasant riding experience for the little passengers and make the trailer one of the best in this category.

Safety and durability

Overall grade: Very Good (1.5)

In terms of safety and durability, the Qeridoo Kidgoo 2 Fidlock Edition sets standards. Visibility in road traffic is excellent, and the harness system is safe and easy to use. The headroom is very good, and thanks to the head protectors, a side safety distance is also provided. This is by far the best result in the test. Also the sturdiness of the frame and the tow bar impresses with very good ratings, making the trailer stand out in this category.

Our conclusion

The Qeridoo Kidgoo 2 Fidlock Edition deservedly took 1st place and achieved excellent results in the categories most important to us. Particularly in terms of safety it impressed with very good ratings and lives up to the motto "Safely on the road".

The downgrade in the "Pollutants" category led to an overall insufficient quality judgment, the good individual ratings of the categories "Riding and pushing", "Handling" and "Child-friendly design" as well as the very good individual rating in the category "Safety and durability" did not factor into the overall result due to Stiftung Warentest's evaluation system. We have the ambition to continue offering the safest and most comfortable bicycle trailer and thus set standards in the industry.

The Stiftung Warentest assessment of "total failure" (the headline in the test report) we cannot understand this way. For children there are no health concerns regarding the pollutants.
